About the Silky White Willow
The Silky White Willow is a fast-growing shelterbelt tree with soft, silvery leaves that shimmer in the wind. It is the only large shelterbelt tree for the prairies with true silver foliage, giving windbreaks and acreages a striking contrast against spruce and green-leaved trees.
Its narrow, open crown and reddish-brown twigs add winter interest, and it establishes quickly to provide shelter in only a few seasons. Like other willows, it does best with consistent moisture and full sun, making it a good choice for low areas and the tall row of a farmyard shelterbelt.
