About the Sea Buckthorn

This species is expert grown in a greenhouse facility.

The Sea Buckthorn is a hardy, fast-growing shrub valued for its adaptability, resilience, and striking orange berries. Thriving in poor, sandy, or dry soils, this rugged plant is an excellent choice for shelterbelts, erosion control, and naturalized plantings. Its deep roots help stabilize the soil, and its nitrogen-fixing ability improves growing conditions for neighboring plants.

In spring, the Sea Buckthorn leafs out with slender, silvery-green foliage that shimmers in the sun. By late summer, the branches are laden with clusters of bright orange berries rich in vitamins and antioxidants—highly prized for juicing, preserves, and health products. As autumn approaches, the silvery leaves contrast beautifully with the vivid fruit, adding color and interest to the late-season landscape before winter’s rest.
