About the Bur Oak

The Bur Oak is a hardy, long-lived native oak known for its strength, impressive size, and ability to thrive in harsh northern climates. This majestic tree features a broad, rounded crown and deeply lobed leaves that provide excellent shade and a classic, stately appearance. Highly adaptable, the Bur Oak tolerates drought, wind, and a wide range of soil conditions, making it a top choice for shelterbelts, parks, and large landscapes.

In spring, the Bur Oak leafs out with large, dark green foliage that provides a dense canopy throughout summer. As fall approaches, the leaves turn shades of yellow and brown, adding warm color to the landscape. Its thick, corky bark offers outstanding cold and fire resistance, while its large acorns provide food for birds and wildlife. A symbol of endurance and stability, the Bur Oak is an ideal choice for long-term plantings in tough environments.
