About the Battleford Apple
The Battleford Apple is a hardy prairie variety developed for cold northern climates, prized for its reliability and flavorful fruit. This vigorous tree produces medium-sized, yellow-green apples with a red blush and a crisp, mildly tart flavor—excellent for fresh eating, cooking, and storing. Highly adaptable, it thrives in a wide range of soils and performs exceptionally well in shelterbelts, orchards, and home gardens.
In spring, the Battleford Apple is covered in a beautiful display of white blossoms, attracting bees and other pollinators. By late summer to early fall, the fruit ripens evenly and stores well for several weeks. Its dense green foliage provides shade throughout the growing season, turning golden-yellow in autumn. A dependable producer and a true prairie favorite, the Battleford Apple is an excellent choice for both production and ornamental use.
